The Escudería Lanzarote team and winner of the Volante FALP 2024 faced a tough weekend. It was a difficult rally with hardly any experience in these rallies outside the Canary Islands and with fortune against them in the choice of the right tires for unpredictable rainstorms. Nevertheless, they recovered throughout the Lusitanian sections, which hosted this season the Rallye Solo Renault Group on the occasion of the launch of the Clio Trophy Portugal, with its setbacks, but that only means that they have areas in which they can improve for the next race.
"This Rally of Portugal has led us to risk more than expected and has made us lose valuable time. A bad choice of tire type in the rain delayed us throughout Friday, as we faced five timed sections without assistance. This cost us more than two minutes on the day. Given the danger of the sections, we could only finish the rally, as a blow to the car would have left us out of the competition and we didn't want that, since there was nothing at stake, we could only run and learn about the slippery surface.
Without taking risks and taking the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the new car, which did not present any problems during the competition, we managed to finish in fourth place. This result allows us to stay in the fight for the victory in the championship"
And, of course, a huge thank you to my family for their constant support. The Clio Trophy Spain in Portugal were a total of 19 units of Clio Rally5 that competed, achieving the team of Escudería Lanzarote and the FALP (Federation of Automovilismo de Las Palmas), Javier Cañada-Aday Ortiz, in their first participation in Portugal the good sensations with which they joined the single-brand of the rhombus in which they missed being on the podium, achieving a fourth place that confirms the good sensations and rhythm.
