FC Puerto del Carmen traveled to Tenerife to face Geneto del Teide at the Islas Canarias Sports City, with the idea of having a match as complete as the first leg, but ending with a result in their favor.
Among Jack Talbot's novelties in the team was the incorporation of Valentina Fortum, a player who last year played for the Tiñosero team, but had gone to study in England. Upon her return, she resumed playing football and secured one of the starting positions in this match. Another positive note was the return of Marisol to a call-up after the cruciate ligament surgery that kept her sidelined for nine months.
The match was very even, with Puerto del Carmen managing to play head-to-head against one of the teams with the best youth academies in the category, experiencing some difficulties, but also making things difficult for the Tenerife team in some plays.
The score was tied at zero at halftime, with the satisfaction of having played an excellent 45 minutes and with the proposal to repeat them in the second half, although it would not be easy. Geneto del Teide made some substitutions to try to give more depth to their team, while Jack Talbot decided to start with the same players he had in the starting eleven.
The tie was broken 56 minutes into the match, when Tatiana Cruz managed to put the local team ahead from the penalty spot, a goal that was a great burden for the Lanzarote team, who began to feel the fatigue after the moral blow received.
Geneto del Teide then took control of the match, scoring a second goal through Andrea Valentina, further complicating the match for the Tiñoseras with an own goal just a minute later, which made it practically unrecoverable.
In the last 15 minutes, Puerto del Carmen played a much more offensive game, playing with three defenders and three forwards, trying to turn the situation around and enjoying some opportunities, but, however, what came was the fourth Tenerife goal to close the match.
FC Puerto del Carmen is already recovering at home from the match and will begin to prepare for Saturday's match against Atlético Unión Güímar, a team that is currently fifth in the standings and is coming off three consecutive losses.
