El Puerto Calero-Hesperia could not have started its participation in the IMS World Championship in Mahón in the Corinthian category (amateur boats) better. At the end of the first and only race of the day, the Canarian boat finished in third position in its category, after a magnificent day in which the Puerto Calero-Hesperia has always moved among the first units of the fleet of 42 boats that are participating in Menorca.

The 7.5-mile regatta, marked by a wind intensity of 7 knots, began at 12:44 hours, after a general call to the entire fleet. In this second good start, three boats (Zurich, Jaume Mascaró and Hublot) started out of line, while the Puerto Calero-Hesperia took the central side of a narrow starting line for the large number of boats entered. When passing the first windward buoy, the Puerto Calero-Hesperia occupied the fourth position in the fleet in real time, only behind the 'TAU', 'CAM', 'Azur de Puig', units that participate in the No Corinthian category (professional boats). The positions were maintained during the following stern and windward, in which there was a change of course due to a wind shift. In these two sections, the intensity of the wind was reduced considerably, falling to five knots.

In the end, the Puerto Calero-Hesperia, which cannot mark its main rivals because they are 42 or 37-foot units and sail more than 10 minutes in real time than the Lanzarote boat, finished third behind the Grand Soleil 42 'Andalucía te quiere' and the Italian Grand Soleil 37 'Sagola', which were 1:52 and just one second ahead, respectively.

The Puerto Calero-Hesperia boat, unstoppable

A luxurious day for this Lanzarote boat last Tuesday in the wonderful setting of the IMS World Championship in Mahón, Menorca. During the afternoon of the same day, a training test was carried out, not scoring, but preparatory, in which the Puerto Calero Hesperia has arrived in first place, standing out with notable difference from the rest of the boats that have left the regatta field.

As of yesterday Thursday, the official tests of this competition began, where the Puerto Calero-Hesperia has proven intentions and serious opportunities to bring to Lanzarote not only joy, hope and good intentions, but a great prize.
