The Lalín Arena Pavilion hosted on Saturday night the match between two of the great teams of the Men's First National League. Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote visited Disiclín Balonmano Lalín and with the need to get a positive result after the setback last week. The men's team of San José Obrero played a very intelligent game and gave the leader of the category their first defeat of the season.
Defenses prevailed over attacks during many phases of the match, so the differences were minimal on the scoreboard. Disiclín Balonmano Lalín tried to deploy its usual game, imprinting a lot of speed to each of its plays. For its part, Gourmet Ampate played a more leisurely game and tried not to physically wear out the players who were on the court.
Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote achieved a partial score of 0-4 with goals from Roc Segarra (2), Anderson Caycedo and Joel Armas, reaching a maximum income of three goals (5-8). The coach of Disiclín Balonmano Lalín was forced to request the first timeout of the match and looking for the opponent not to go away on the scoreboard.
After the indications from the bench, the Galicians barely took four minutes to put the tables on the scoreboard. A tie that came in part thanks to the speed of the attack actions, not managing San José Obrero to stop these actions. Román Pedreira and Alexandre Dacosta scored the last two goals of the first half, with the Galicians taking a one-goal lead to the locker room (11-10).
The second part of the match was developed with the same course, not having Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote hurry in the development of their attack plays, playing in many occasions to the passive edge, and showing very safe in defense with a 6.0 system. The greatest danger of the Galicians came when they were able to find their wingers.
The pivot Miguel Laguna put Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote ahead again on the scoreboard, when barely the first third of the second half had been played (14-15). The Lanzarote team was about to throw overboard all the work done, suffering a double exclusion for a childish mistake. After the exclusion of Acoidán Martín, the team sought to play without a goalkeeper, but the bench did not remove goalkeeper Javi Santana, being also excluded for two minutes by the referees.
Despite being left with four players on the court, Disiclín Balonmano Lalín was only able to get a partial score of 2-1. A partial score of 0-3, with goals from Roc Segarra, Acoidán Martín and Alberto Roldán, put Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote back with a clear advantage, reaching a two-goal lead (20-22).
The final minutes of the match were very intense, with a Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote that had a minimum income and that strived to stop the attacks of the opponent. Óscar Silva, culminating a personal play, was responsible for putting the 23 to 24 with just under a minute to go.
Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote defended tooth and nail the meager advantage achieved, not letting Disiclín Balonmano Lalín be able to have clear shots, and scoring a victory of great merit on the court of one of the best teams in the category.
The triumph places Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote in the fifth place of the classification, taking advantage of the stumbles in this day of OAR Coruña and Forbe Reconquista de Vigo. SAR Plastic Omnium will be the next rival of the Lanzarote team, match that will be played on Saturday at 19:30 hours in the IES Blas Cabrera Felipe Pavilion.
