Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote's second position in the Men's First National Division has only lasted one day, as they lost it this Sunday after conceding a draw on the SAR Plastic Omnium court. In an incomprehensible way, San José Obrero allowed the Galician team to tie the match in the last minute, letting a two-goal advantage slip away due to the players' poor decisions.
The first minutes of the match were dominated by Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote, who were successful in attack and forceful in defense to establish 1-4. A start that was a mirage as SAR Plastic Omnium got into the match. Before the halfway point of the first period, Bruno Vázquez put the locals ahead and Ángel Pérez culminated a 5-0 partial (6-4).
Pedro Cabrera broke his team's scoring drought and shortly after Pablo Rodríguez from the right wing was in charge of putting the equalizer back on the scoreboard. Alarms went off on the San José Obrero bench with five minutes left until halftime, seeing how the rival obtained a three-goal advantage with goals from Mateo Arias (2) and Bruno Vázquez, forcing Juan Miguel Pérez to request a time-out.
The reaction of the Lanzarote team was immediate after the coach's instructions, with Joel Peraza and Mikita Liavonau scoring to reduce the locals' lead. SAR Plastic Omnium had chances to increase the advantage in the final minutes to three goals, not being successful and Pablo Rodríguez scoring on the buzzer to establish 12 to 11 at the end of the first half.
The best minutes of Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote were seen at the beginning of the second half. Acoidán Martín put the tables on the scoreboard and Joel Armas completed a quick counterattack to put his team ahead. Joel Armas was disqualified with a red card in the following defensive action, leaving the rotation on the court shorter. Joel Peraza and Pablo Rodríguez increased the difference to three goals (12-15).
After the halfway point of the second half, Mikita Liavonau scored to establish 15 to 18, forcing the local coach to request a time-out. The reaction of SAR Plastic Omnium was immediate, and after returning to the court they scored through Bruno Vázquez, Iván Vázquez and Manuel Piñeiro transformed a 7-meter shot, establishing the tie again.
It seemed that the match was not going to escape Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote, after Antonio Llopis transformed a seven-meter shot and scored from the right wing (19-21). It was not like that, bad decisions ruined all the work done. Bruno Vázquez cut the difference with less than a minute to go. In the following attack play, without the referees threatening with the passive, Antonio Llopis rushed with the shot and caused the rival to have 20 seconds to elaborate the last play.
Pedro Cabrera looked for a rival to hit in attack in the center of the court, being excluded by the referees. And when there were barely two seconds left until the end, Mateo Arias from the left wing pierced the goal defended by Javi Santana.
Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote let a point escape and with the result of 21 to 21 the match came to an end. A draw that sends San José Obrero to the third position in the standings, surpassed by Rodosa Balonmano Chapela. In the next match, the Lanzarote team will receive the visit of Forbe Reconquista de Vigo, a match that will be played on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. in the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion.
