After the setback suffered last week on the court of Universidad de León Ademar, Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote reunited with victory on Saturday afternoon and defeated Uharte Navarra by 28 to 22. It was a placid match for the team coached by Jesús Casanova, always taking the initiative on the scoreboard and stepping on the accelerator in the second half to knock out the Navarre team. A triumph that allows Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote to reduce differences with respect to the second position, after the defeat of Balonmano Nava against the leader of the category.
The first minutes of the match were tentative, with the defenses prevailing over the attacks. Soon Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote took control of the game and began to mark the first differences on the scoreboard. Most of the goals of the conguero team came from the side where Pedro Noda attacked. The Lanzarote player scored easily from that position, until Uharte Navarra realized that it was necessary to close that area of their defense.
A 0-3 partial put Uharte Navarra ahead on the scoreboard for the first time in the 23rd minute of the match (10-11). A phase of the game that coincided with the double exclusion suffered by Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote. Luis Morín and Rubén Caraballo were sanctioned with two minutes and this circumstance was used by Uharte Navarra. The Lanzarote team failed to turn the score around and reached halftime with a one-goal disadvantage. Uharte Navarra won by 12 to 13 at the end of the first 30 minutes of play.
Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote imprinted more speed to its game at the beginning of the second half and soon managed to get ahead on the scoreboard. A goal from Nelson Espino put the local team ahead on the scoreboard (16-15), when only four minutes of the second half had been played. Throughout this second period, Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote led on the scoreboard, although it failed to take off and open the differences.
A 5 to 1 partial gave Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote a five-goal advantage (23-18), causing the coach of Uharte Navarra to have to ask for a time-out to try to redirect the situation. The Navarre team could not reduce the differences on the scoreboard and Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote even managed to get eight goals up with a few minutes left until the end of the match. An advantage that the Lanzarote players managed to perfection and reaching the end of the match with the result of 28 to 22.
The triumph of Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote against Uharte Navarra and the defeat of Balonmano Nava against RGC Covadonda, allows the conguero team to be placed three points behind the second classified with two matchdays remaining until the conclusion of the regular phase. In the next matchday, Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote will play again as local, receiving RGC Covadonga on Saturday afternoon. A match that will be played from 7:30 p.m. in the Arrecife Municipal Pavilion.
