CD Corralejo and UD Lanzarote failed to break the tie, in a poor quality match, in which football was conspicuous by its absence and few were the scoring chances created by the two teams throughout the ninety minutes of play. The red team could have taken the three points that were at stake, not being successful from the penalty spot when Jotha missed a penalty in the first half. A fair draw for the merits made by one and the other on the field.
Adolfo Pérez introduced some novelties in the starting eleven with respect to last week. The main novelty in the starting team was the presence of Víctor Rodríguez in the center of the field, a player who was playing the first minutes with the red elastic after his signing. Toñito and Echedey were also novelties, occupying the bands in the center of the team's field.
The first half was marked by the few clear scoring chances created by the two teams. Without a doubt, the clearest was for UD Lanzarote in the 27th minute. Kamara hung a ball inside the area and Rosmen, when trying to control the ball, was knocked down by Pablo. The penalty was taken by Jotha and Jero guessed the trajectory of the shot to stop it. The rebound fell to Rosmen and again Jero responded to send the ball to a corner kick.
The greatest danger of CD Corralejo in this first half would come in set pieces. A free kick by Fali that Alberto barely missed, was one of the best chances for the Majoreros. And at the edge of halftime, a shot by Chus found the response of goalkeeper Marco Machín. With the tie at zero, the first 45 minutes of the match would come to an end.
CD Corralejo started the second half much better than their rival. Three minutes into the game, a header from Héctor could have put the locals ahead, with the ball going just wide. Minutes later, Josito put a ball in depth for Isaac and his shot went into the hands of goalkeeper Marco Machín.
The response from UD Lanzarote was not long in coming and it would come in the 63rd minute. The play began with a mistake by Chus in the center of the field, which allowed Rosmen to be alone against Jero. The UD Lanzarote striker fell asleep and allowed Alberto to arrive to prevent the shot.
The match was doomed to a goalless draw and even the coaches seemed to be content, making defensive changes or wasting time with the changes. In extra time the match could have been decided for either of the two squads. In a throw-in by Alberto, Héctor headed directly wide. And shortly after, the Lanzarote team could have taken the three points, with a shot by Lolo that went far from the goal defended by Jero.
The score remained immovable and with the goalless draw the match would come to an end. A point that could take CD Corralejo out of the top spots in the standings, and a draw that does not help UD Lanzarote to climb positions in the standings. In the next match UD Lanzarote receives the visit of San Pedro Mártir.
