Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote is having a good start to the season in the Men's First National Handball League. On Saturday afternoon, the Lanzarote team achieved a hard-fought victory against BM Villafranca, in a match that became complicated for San José Obrero in the first half, they came back in the second half, and when it seemed that they were on track for victory, they saw the Badajoz team react, almost taking something positive from the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion. Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote won 24-23 against BM Villafranca.

Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote did not have a good start to the match, with BM Villafranca taking the initiative on the scoreboard. The locals struggled to circulate the ball well in attack and were not as forceful in defense as in previous matches. Most of Villafranca's goals came from outside shots, with Enrique Moreno being a nightmare for the local defense.

Balonmano Villafranca doubled Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote's score, with a five-goal lead in the 17th minute, forcing Jesús Casanova to call the first time-out of the match (5-10). The Lanzarote team was apathetic in the first half in attack and even missed three seven-meter shots in the first 30 minutes of the match.

Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote reacted in the final stretch of the first half and went into the break only two goals behind on the scoreboard. The result was 11-13 in favor of BM Villafranca, leaving the match open for the second half.

The start of the second half was marked by an overwhelming game from Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote, achieving a 4-0 run that turned the score around. Marko Dzokic and Luis Morín were in charge of tying the score at 13 and Javier Ortigosa, converting a seven-meter shot, put Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote ahead on the scoreboard for the first time. Pedro Noda was in charge of completing the excellent 4-0 run at the start of the second half.

Before the first ten minutes of the match, the BM Villafranca coach called a time-out to try to stop the overwhelming game of Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote. After the time-out, the Badajoz team put a mixed defense on the court against Marko Dzokic, trying to stop the attack of this player. The locals suffered the disqualification of Pedro Noda, with San José Obrero losing one of its mainstays in attack. And Enrique Moreno was in charge of putting BM Villafranca ahead again in the 18th minute of the second half by converting a seven-meter shot (19-20).

Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote knew that they had to put on their work clothes to turn the score around and leave the victory in Lanzarote. That is exactly what the team led by Jesús Casanova did, taking the lead again in the 24th minute (23-22). The locals lost the Argentine Agustín Robert in the final stretch of the match, a player whose left shoulder came out of place and had to be transferred to a medical center to undergo different medical tests.

The last minute of the match was heart-stopping. San José Obrero took the lead on the scoreboard and Villafranca had 50 seconds ahead to at least put the balance on the scoreboard. Enrique Moreno rushed in the last attack of his team, making an outside shot that Sergio Bonilla stopped without any problem. Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote consumed the last seconds of the clock and with the score of 24 to 23 the match came to an end.

The victory places Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote in third position in their group in the Men's First National Handball League, with the Lanzarote team not knowing defeat at the start of this season. In the next match, Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote travels to face BM Montequinto Dos Hermanas.
