The Lanzarote team Chinijos Ortopedia Carmen has been proclaimed champion of the Canary Islands Children's Men's Handball, in a tournament held from Friday to Sunday at the Teguise Municipal Pavilion, thus consolidating its leadership in the category and obtaining its pass to represent the archipelago in the sector phase of the Spanish Championship.

The event, organized by Club Deportivo Chinijos, the Teguise City Council and the Canary Islands Handball Federation, had the institutional support of Turismo Lanzarote and the collaboration of the Insular Sports Service of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Santa Rosa, Tools, Nissan Motor and Nec Active, demonstrating the involvement of the social and business fabric with grassroots sports in Lanzarote.

The championship brought together the best children's teams in the archipelago. After the group stage, the teams Chinijos Ortopedia Carmen and UB Ciutel in Group A, together with Ca'Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero – Ajaches and EVM Balonmano Realejos from Group B, qualified for the semi-finals.

In the fight for fifth and sixth position, the Gran Canaria team Muebles San Andrés Gáldar won by a tight 21-23 against BM Morro Jable VC, thus taking fifth place and relegating the Majorera team to sixth place.

The semi-finals were played on Saturday with high-level matches. UB Ciutel convincingly defeated Ca'Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero – Ajaches by 29-39, while the host team, Chinijos Ortopedia Carmen, signed a resounding victory by 39-9 against EVM Balonmano Realejos, consolidating its candidacy for the title.

The final matches were played on Sunday. In the consolation final for third and fourth place, Ca'Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero – Ajaches took the victory in a very disputed match, winning by 23-24 against EVM Balonmano Realejos.

The grand final pitted Chinijos Ortopedia Carmen against UB Ciutel in a vibrant duel. The hosts dominated from the start, displaying a solid game both in attack and defense, against a Telde team that never gave up. The final score, 42-20 reflects the superiority of the Lanzarote team, which deservedly won the title of champion of the Canary Islands Children's Men's Handball.

After the final buzzer, the awards ceremony took place, which was attended by various authorities. Among them, Nieves Martínez (Councilor for Commerce and Consumption of the Teguise City Council), Nereida González (Councilor for Social Welfare of the Teguise City Council), Ginés González (Councilor for Local Police and Civil Protection of the Teguise City Council), Alejandro Ramírez (Councilor for Sports of the Teguise City Council), Miguel Ángel Ferrer (President of the Lanzarote Island Handball Federation), Blas Parrilla (President of the Canary Islands Handball Federation) and Rita Hernández (Deputy Mayor of the Teguise City Council).

The tournament concluded leaving a great image of grassroots handball in the Canary Islands, highlighting the quality of the young athletes, the organization of CD Chinijos, and the support of the institutions and sponsors that make it possible for events of this magnitude to continue strengthening sports on the island.
