Next Thursday, January 21, a new edition of the La Candelaria 2016 International Basketball Tournament will begin, in both male and female cadet categories. A tournament that is part of the La Candelaria festivities that are celebrated in the municipality of Tías and organized by the Magec Tías Sports Club. This season has a most appealing poster, featuring the best teams from the Canary Islands and inviting teams from the national and international scene. The La Candelaria 2016 International Tournament will feature four intense days of basketball, with the finals being held on the morning of Sunday, January 24.
The host club, CD Magec Tías, has invited the Tenerife clubs Nuryana, Luther King, La Salle and Canarias to this event; the Majorera clubs CB Amuley and CB Los Toscones, the Gran Canaria clubs Pintadera, Canterbury, Telde Basket Tara and CBA; the Palmera club Felipe Antón; the Madrid clubs Corazonistas and Aristos, completing the list with the presence of the German team Brander B. Aachen.
The La Candelaria 2016 International Basketball Tournament will be played in the cadet category, both male and female, with the matches being held in the Tías Municipal Pavilion and in the IES Tías Pavilion, and some of the matches on the outdoor court of the Tías Municipal Pavilion. The La Candelaria 2016 International Basketball Tournament is supported by the Tías City Council, Puerto del Carmen, the Sports area of the Lanzarote Cabildo, the Canary Basketball Federation, Panificadora San Antonio, Seguros GES, Taberna de Nino and Lidl.
The Majoreros from Los Toscones and the Madrid natives from Aristos will be in charge of inaugurating the La Candelaria 2016 International Tournament on Thursday starting at 09:10 hours in the Tías Municipal Pavilion. From there, matches will be played practically non-stop until 20:50 hours, the time at which the last matches of the day will begin. The format will be repeated on Friday, as on Saturday, the day on which the preliminary round of all against all will be completed to begin playing the semi-final eliminatories.
The final day of the La Candelaria 2016 International Basketball Tournament will be played on Sunday, January 24. The final of the women's category is scheduled for 11:00 hours and the final of the men's category will be played at 13:00 hours, with both matches being scheduled in the Tías Municipal Pavilion. At the conclusion of the finals, around 15:00 hours on Sunday, the awards ceremony of the La Candelaria 2016 International Basketball Tournament will take place with the presence of the different authorities.
