Match between CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote and CICAR Ciudad de Arrecife

The municipal hall of San Bartolomé dressed up for the classic derby of Lanzarote, which may well be worth a promotion phase to the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola. The CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote, in addition to defeating CICAR Ciudad de Arrecife, surpassed the goal average, so a rojinegra victory in the last match would mean the definitive assault on fourth place in the standings and the right to be in that final phase that puts a ticket to the highest national competition at stake.

Although the first to strike was CB San José Obrero to open the scoring with 1-0, that first minute was the only occasion in which they surpassed a CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote that proved to be a much more complete team. It is equally true that the result of the first leg left a margin of two goals in favor of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife, but they were unable to manage this advantage against a rival that prevented them from entering the game.

CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote was aware that they had to put on their work clothes if they wanted to get something against a team made for aspirations far superior to those worked on in
the offices of San Bartolomé, so the batateras did not hesitate to take the weight of the game.

With an impenetrable defense, CB San José Obrero was left without ideas, showing itself very uncomfortable with the continuous help of tireless batateras. Although, with the great quality of the arrecifeñas present at times, they had enough with little to continue making things difficult for some batateras who did not mind leading the match, demonstrating to have many more resources to find solutions in attack, deploying numerous rehearsed plays and reading the opponent's approach perfectly.

Thus, the first ten minutes of the match were completed with Ingrid Roger scoring the 6-3 and the visiting coach requesting a time-out to try to prevent the match from escaping him. There were also several changes in the capital's ranks, but the inspiration of CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote prevented them from taking effect, nullifying a rival that, through occasional flashes, maintained its options, even reducing the difference to a single goal (8-7) in the middle of the first half.

CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife gained morale with the interventions of its goalkeeper, who prevented the batateras from materializing in the electronic scoreboard the superiority they demonstrated on the
court. The visitors were much less fresh in defense, arriving late in many punishable actions of exclusion. It was then when the pressure to take advantage of the numerical superiority played against CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote, even receiving partials against that maintained the aspirations of a CB San José Obrero that seemed to settle for being two goals behind and enforce the goal average in their favor.

CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote did not speculate with the result and began to exploit also the counterattack, reaching a five-goal advantage (9-14) that forced again a time-out
visitor that did not end up giving results. So much so that, with five minutes left for the break, Brenda Roger broke the rival defense again to put the 15-10. It would be the last rush of the first half, and then came the worst minutes of the batateras that CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife took advantage of to go to the locker room with a 17-14.

The second half began giving more emotion if possible to the match, with CB San José Obrero putting the 18-17 taking advantage of a new opportunity with numerical superiority.

But in equal conditions the same script was given again. The waste of energy in defense, being able those of Patro Barambio to appear in six meters with a very advanced and positional line that left no gaps, ended with recoveries of ball and transforming to the counterattack, undermining the spirit of a rival that was only able to try to unblock the actions in attack with individualities.

Despite having taken over the match, CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote did not relax, which did not prevent the rival from reducing the margin on the scoreboard to three goals (25-22) when there were
fifteen minutes left.

Susi Sánchez in goal ended up putting the finishing touch, joining the best moments of the team that showed more than seriousness, maintaining the great intensity despite achieving a new advantage of
five goals from the hand of Berenice Frelier (27-22), with which the last time-out of CB San José Obrero was exhausted.

With ten minutes left for the end of the match, Gleinys Reyes silenced for only a few seconds the municipal of Las Palmeras to sign a work of art that ended up lifting the entire stands and left the electronic scoreboard showing an overwhelming 31-24.

The local advantage even increased. After the wonder of the Cuban winger, Frelier and Luana Albán joined the party to put the 34-26 when there were five minutes left for the final whistle. Eight goals of margin that the capital team managed to reduce, again in numerical superiority, and in a final stretch of the match where those of Barambio knew how to play with the clock in favor to reach the spectacular final 34-31.

One more match for the streak of the batateras that have been scoring for six consecutive matches. Although this time, being a derby and against a direct rival in the standings, these two points may well be worth gold, allowing to go to the last league match, against BM Salud Tenerife, without depending on the calculator and other rivals, so next Saturday will seek to put the finishing touch in the municipal hall of the Barrio de la Salud.
