The fifteenth matchday of the Honor Gold Division leaves a bad taste in the mouth of the batateras team, especially because it was once again evident that the red-and-blacks are capable of being superior to their rival, but at the same time they are also their main enemy, sinning in precipitations with or without the ball and unforced errors that prevent them from effectively controlling the match.
From the first minute, Vino Doña Berenguela BM Bolaños was very solid in defense, with a fairly deep 6:0, but that did not prevent the first goal from being red-and-black after a good connection between Brenda Roger and Lucía Chacón. The locals quickly found the tie, and the first part of the match was very even, although the proposal of CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote surpassed that of the green and whites.
The Ciudad Real team opted for their speed, even receiving goals against, a field in which the batateras are also comfortable, but which forced them to be very attentive and leave their physique on the court.
The match was in favor of CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote, which also showed that it knows how to play at a high pace of play, although without taking the opportunity to extend its two-goal advantage when they were in numerical superiority. Meanwhile, the constant crosses of the locals opened the red-and-black defense, having to change the Lanzarote team's defensive system from a 6:0 to 5:1, although BM Bolaños finally found the tie at 4 in the eighth minute.
Two minutes later, a great goal by Gleinys Reyes maintained the minimum advantage (4-5), confirming that it was going to be a match of great defensive toughness. From there, CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote would be more harmed, who would be charged with a total of seven exclusions (six of them in the second half). Almost a quarter of an hour with numerical inferiority compared to the four occasions in which the locals played with one less player.
All this did not prevent the red-and-blacks from also achieving partials in favor with a teammate less on the court, although Vino Berenguela BM Bolaños would finally find a way to take the comeback, especially thanks to the change of pace with the ball and the fast transitions in attack with which they found the gap between the batateras.
CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote continued to fight for the tie and to maintain its options thanks to great performances in defense and various ball recoveries, but in attack it was somewhat more stuck, especially when some precipitations occurred again that prevented reversing the situation on the scoreboard.
With ten minutes left for the break, the 10-8 reflected the equality on the court. But the locals extended their advantage before the break thanks to their outside shooting, at the same time that the counterattacks began, reaching the break with a 15-12 that was not extended thanks to the interventions of Susi Sánchez in goal.
Vino Doña Berenguela BM Bolaños entered the second half in a devastating way at the same rate as unforced errors occurred from the visitors, extending the advantage to six goals. In the fifth minute of the second half, Chacón would find the goal to reduce the differences, but CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote would not score again until the eleventh minute to make it 22-16, just when a new controversial exclusion occurred on the red-and-blacks.
Danae Miranda and Marta Cuenca put the batateras team in the match with 22-18 when there was still a quarter of an hour left in the match, although a new exclusion served as a finishing touch to give the locals the opportunity for a new partial of six goals.
The 24-18 remained on the scoreboard for quite some time, with errors on both sides and good performances from the goalkeepers. The clock was against the red-and-blacks, who resisted the goal on more than one occasion also due to the crossbar. But BM Bolaños did not know how to take advantage of its numerical superiority in the exclusions of Chacón and Miranda, so there was still a match left, especially when María de León transformed a counterattack, leaving the 20-25 with still five long minutes to be played.
Crazy minutes in which Susi Sánchez also made herself known, but in which the calmer Ciudad Real team ended up running out of time in their favor to take the victory after the final 27-21.
CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote does not sink and is hopeful with a final stretch of competition in which it hopes to stay in the noble area of the table, currently occupying the seventh position. After this week of rest, the red-and-blacks aim to extend their points tally in the next matches, already waiting for the next match at home against Rodríguez Cleba for next March 11.
