CB San José Obrero Lanzarote played the first match of the year on Saturday afternoon, closing the first round of the season with a victory in the Men's First National Division. The Lanzarote team hosted KM13 Gáldar, in a Canarian derby that had plenty of incentives and, above all, intensity on the court. The players led by Iñaki Malumbres were in charge of carrying the weight of the match and ended up winning by 34 to 29.
The equality was maximum in the first minutes of the match, with alternatives in the score and with little income for the two teams. The locals came to have an advantage of three goals, after the goals scored by Óscar Silva and Carmelo Álvarez, but before the equator of the first part, KM13 Gáldar managed to put the equality in the electronic of the Municipal Pavilion of Titerroy.
The last ten minutes of the first part were key for CB San José Obrero Lanzarote to begin to mature the victory. The Galdenses came across the defensive wall of the Lanzarote team and were close to ten minutes without being able to pierce the goal defended by Javi Santana. The locals achieved a partial of 6-0 and with the score of 18 to 12 would reach the end of the first half.
CB San José Obrero Lanzarote put land in between in the first minutes of the second part, period that began with a partial of 4 to 0 for the locals. In just three minutes, the goals of Ángel Iglesias (2) and Mikita Liavonau (2) served to establish the advantage in the ten goals (22-12).
With a wide difference in the score, the Lanzarote team was in charge of controlling the times of the match and not let the opponent, despite the attempts made by the players led by Aday Sánchez, get closer in the score. Throughout the second part, CB San José Obrero managed the advantage that had been acquired.
With the score of 34 to 29 was reached at the end of the match, adding CB San José Obrero a new victory that consolidates it at the end of the first round in the lead of group A of the Men's First National. The Lanzarote team is five points ahead of OAR Coruña and six points ahead of Disciclín Balonmano Lalín. Next Saturday they will play again as locals, receiving from 19:30 hours to Automanía Luceros.
