CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen began its participation in the Canary Islands Cup this Saturday, defeating Balonmano Tejina from Tenerife (17-28) as a visitor at the IES Antonio González in Tejina.

It was their first official match on the 40 by 20 court, the final part of the preseason as high-level preparation for the upcoming season in the Women's Silver Division of Handball.

Miguel Ángel Lemes' players encountered a rival that knew how to maintain equality on the scoreboard during the first half in a typical preseason match. However, after the break, the players from the Tiñoso club were able to impose their game and reach the first distances on the scoreboard (12-14, min.35), which would grow as the match ended.

In this first day of the Canary Islands Cup, the player with the best numbers in the scoring facet was Famara Fernández with seven goals, well accompanied by five goals from Mary Sánchez and another five from Rosa Álvarez. In the ranks of Tejina, Andrea Alonso stood out with five goals.

The coach of Miguel Ángel Lemes considers that they have played a "preseason match where the objective was to control the loads. In the first part, there were two teams that played fifteen minutes each. The shortcomings of the young players at the defensive level were noticeable, but in general, I am happy because some interesting things were seen. In the second part, we looked more at the result and improved in many aspects. At the defensive level we conceded five goals and were able to score sixteen. The difference was noticeable at the physical level, where the rival was limited in players".

Taking into account that this is the first serious test of the Tiñoso team, Lemes has valued that "for being the first match, the sensations are not bad, but it is true that we must improve in defense, be somewhat more forceful. In attack it is normal that we have inaccuracies but I am happy because we go up well in the second wave and people physically seem to be fine for the level of the season we are in", confirming that "the incorporations are adapting and that is important".

In the Canary Islands Cup, Lemes valued starting to compete on the court and the rivals because "we are facing three teams that are going to be in our group and that will measure a little what we are going to find during the season".
