CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen drew this Saturday in the Municipal of San Esteban de León against Rodríguez Cleba (26-26) in a match corresponding to the fifth day of the season in group A of the Women's Silver Division of Honor.
A bittersweet draw, as the Tiñoseras get something positive in a complicated field where they were losing with ten minutes to go, although there is some concern about not finishing off the matches and accumulating one defeat and one draw in the first five league games. Rodríguez Cleba remains undefeated after five matches.
The conejeras' game allowed them to control the first half with a certain advantage. In the second half, the local players gained a two-goal advantage from the beginning, which they would maintain until the 55th minute of the match. With five minutes remaining, Miguel Ángel Lemes' players not only managed to tie the match, but also had a final shot that would have given them the victory if they had scored.
CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen is still waiting to have Atteneri Morales and Vesi Nenkova on the forty by twenty court, both about to return after a long injury and who, with the passing of matches and training, will acquire the rhythm they need after the forced break due to injury. Necessary contributions after the long-term injuries of Kenia Hernández and Bea Betancort.
The match also served to find Grethe Alicia Damora in the León ranks, a player who until a few months ago played in the Tiñoseras ranks and who, due to studies, has moved to that area of the peninsula.
In the scoring chapter, Mary Sánchez was the most outstanding in the Tiñoseras ranks in León with ten goals scored, well accompanied in the offensive facet by Keyla Hernández, with five goals. In the León team, CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen controlled their top scorer so far, María Sancha, who only scored two goals, but Carolina Lorenzo came to the fore, the top scorer with six goals, well accompanied by Sofía Ghilardi with five and Ania Ramos with four goals scored.
With this scoring record achieved in León, Mary Sánchez is the second highest scorer in group A of the Women's Silver Division of Honor, with forty-two goals in five matches, with an average of more than eight (8.4) goals per match so far.
After the match, the coach of CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen, Miguel Ángel Lemes, described the match played today in León as "vibrant, which went more or less as we had planned. León defending 5:1 and quickly going on the counterattack. We improved in defense compared to other matches but our balance was not entirely good. In attack we had problems but little by little we solved them. In the 19th minute we were losing by 3 goals and the ball against us. Even so, we did not lose face in the match and we were able to come back and get a point".
The conejero coach lamented the lost opportunity at the end of the match, "it's a shame about the last action that with one player less we managed to shoot from the wing and we couldn't score. I'm happy because we knew how to overcome a critical situation and the attitude was good until the end. After overcoming this exhausting trip we focus on Zonzamas and to meet again with Victory. After losing three points in the first five matches we have to be clear that at home we can't let a single point escape", concluded the Tiñosero coach.
In the sixth matchday of the league in group A of the Women's Silver Division of Honor, CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen will play a new conejero derby in the Municipal of Tías next Saturday, October 19 at 6:00 p.m., against Lanzarote Zonzamas.
