October 5, 2013 will go down in the history of Lanzarote football for many reasons. That day, Unión Sur Yaiza and UD Lanzarote faced each other for the first time in the national category, a local rivalry duel that ended with the victory of the southerners by 3 to 1. Alex Yunes, achieved his first hat-trick in the national category, scoring the three goals that gave his team the victory. And what caught the most attention was the presence of eight brothers on the playing field, with four families represented, who had their hearts in their mouths during the 90 minutes that the match between the two Lanzarote representatives of the Third Division lasted.
In a match that pits two teams from the same island or city against each other, it is normal to find players on the field who have a very close family relationship. The Lanzarote derby of the Canarian group of the Third Division was not going to be less, with eight brothers being on the field from the start of the match.
The Yunes de León family was represented by the presence of Miguel and Alex, both players of Unión Sur Yaiza. Also in the Yaiza team are the members of the Morales Reyes family, with Juanjo and Javi. In the ranks of UD Lanzarote the Quevedo Cabrera family had the participation of the brothers Rosmen and Yaco. And with one player in each team, the Pérez Olivero family had Jotha in UD Lanzarote and Javi in the ranks of Unión Sur Yaiza.
The eight brothers played from the start the match between Unión Sur Yaiza and UD Lanzarote. Another anecdote of a match that will go down in the history of Lanzarote football. Players such as Yaco, Miguel Yunes, Alex Yunes or Javi Morales, have defended throughout their sports career the jersey of the two teams that faced each other on Saturday afternoon on the artificial turf of the Municipal de Yaiza.
And if in the first leg match there have been eight brothers who have been on the field, in the second leg match this number could increase to ten brothers. Currently, Falo Gil, brother of defender Fran Gil, has joined the training sessions of UD Lanzarote and could have a federative license with the team led by Adolfo Pérez in the near future.
