Aureliano Negrín was the winner of the San Ginés Regatta in the RI 2-3 class and wanted to dedicate the victory to his recently deceased father. He competed aboard the Muyay, in the race that took place on Friday, August 24. The winner of the RI 0-1 class was, for his part, Augusto Escolar, at the controls of Marina Rubicón for the second year in a row.

The regatta started on Friday the 24th at 5:00 p.m. from Las Palmas. Ten boats started the regatta, and faced an open sea route of 111 miles. The test began with a very gentle wind that gradually increased, reaching peaks of about 25 knots during the night.

In addition, the wind direction was rolling towards the east, which meant that none of the participants could enter the Bocaina Strait, and that they had to go up part of the west coast of Fuerteventura giving upwind tacks.

After passing the time control established at the height of Punta Limones, in Playa Blanca, the crews had to work hard to avoid the typical calms of that area, which this year were more intense than normal, and caused significant changes in the head positions.

Two of the participating boats were forced to withdraw from the regatta. On the one hand, the XP 44 Felipeva, by Felipe del Rosario, had to abandon due to a broken headsail, while the Cantamañanas, by Matías Hernández, chose not to finish the regatta due to the significant delay it suffered with respect to the rest of the fleet.

The arrival in Arrecife occurred in a staggered manner, from 12 noon, when the Puerto Calero crossed the finish line in first position in real time. The last boat to arrive was the Altamar, which did so at almost 4:00 p.m.

On the same Saturday night, the awards ceremony was held at the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife facilities, with the presence of several civil and military authorities. During this celebration, the club's new choir was presented in society. After the event, the attendees enjoyed a party in honor of the sailors and from the club's terrace they could see the fireworks that gave the finishing touch to the San Ginés festivities this year.
