The San Bartolomé City Council has completed the conditioning and improvement works on the plot located on Párroco San Martín street, next to the church and close to the municipal building, which is now enabled as a new public parking area for residents, merchants, and visitors.
The action has allowed this space to be transformed into an infrastructure adapted to the current needs of the municipality, incorporating new parking spaces, public lighting, sidewalks, urban furniture, landscaped areas, and charging points for electric vehicles, thus reinforcing the accessibility, sustainability, and functionality of the environment.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted that "the commissioning of this car park represents an important improvement for mobility in the center of San Bartolomé and responds to a need that both residents and merchants have been communicating to us for some time."
"With this action, we not only gain new parking spaces, but we also improve accessibility to the urban center, facilitate administrative and commercial dealings, and contribute to creating a more comfortable, orderly, and functional environment for all citizens," he added.
Furthermore, Isidro Pérez emphasized the incorporation of electric charging points and new lighting, stating that "we continue to move towards a more sustainable, modern municipality prepared to face the mobility challenges of the future, incorporating services that encourage the use of less polluting vehicles and improve the safety of public spaces."
The mayor added that "the creation of this new parking area is part of a broader strategy by the City Council to continue generating new parking spaces in the different areas of the municipality, responding to the growing demand and improving mobility for both residents and visitors." He also assured that "we will continue working on the identification and adaptation of new plots that allow us to expand the parking offer in different parts of the municipal area."
For her part, the Councilor for Urban Planning, Marlene Romero, recalled that this action "has been a priority for the government group since the beginning of the term, as it allowed us to recover an underutilized space and transform it into a useful service for the citizens."
Romero also highlighted that “the project has been developed taking into account both current mobility needs and criteria of accessibility, energy efficiency, and improvement of public space”. In this regard, he pointed out that “the incorporation of new lighting, landscaped areas, and electric charging points makes this action an example of how we should plan and develop the urban spaces of the municipality”.
The intervention, which had an investment of over 149,000 euros, also included the demolition of the existing wall and the execution of a new structural enclosure, as well as various complementary actions aimed at improving safety and the integration of the space into the urban environment.
With this action, the San Bartolomé City Council continues to advance in its commitment to improve municipal infrastructures, strengthen mobility, and offer new services that contribute to improving the quality of life of the citizens.
