The crew aboard the "GP Bullhound", which included Alfredo González from Lanzarote, belonging to the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, achieved a meritorious second place in the World Championship that took place from October 1 to 8 in the North American city of Newport in the J80 sailing category.

The team in which Alfredo González was included was mostly made up of Spanish sailors, since, apart from the Swedish-born but Spanish-resident skipper, Per Roman, the group was made up of Luis Bugallo, of Galician origin, the Andalusian Josemi Segura and Gustavo Martínez Doreste from Gran Canaria, in addition to the athlete from Lanzarote himself.

The boat, which is attached to the Royal Swedish Yacht Club and the Club Náutico Sevilla, was behind the American ship "Le Tigre" by a difference of 17 points. In third position was the Irish sail "Mina de Plomo", finishing 23 points behind the Spanish group.
