The term post-truth is defined as a non-objective truth or a non-real truth, more attached to emotions, beliefs or desires than to reality itself. That is, a lie. In Arrecife we have a clear example of the term that the Royal Academy of Language plans to introduce as a neologism this year and that I will try to demonstrate by breaking down several situations that are experienced in the city.
Using the term, we would say that our esteemed Mayoress sees and feels a reality that the rest of the Arrecife residents do not perceive. The city has lost that old charm that the people of Lanzarote found in their capital.
We had some patron saint festivities that, since the Socialist Party is responsible for the Festivities area, have been losing their idiosyncrasy and quality. The Carnival of Puerto has ceased to be the benchmark in these winter celebrations to allow other municipalities to compete to see who takes over.
Those who also live in a parallel reality are the neighborhoods of Arrecife that have been the great forgotten for years by a Socialist Party that has lost all closeness and empathy with the neighbors. There is no investment in elementary services or in the necessary infrastructures so that the residents who live in the different areas of the capital can feel comfortable, comfortable and proud of the place where they live. And in the face of a reality of disillusioned citizens, we find a mayoress, Mrs. Eva de Anta, full and deeply proud of the work she is doing in the neighborhoods of the capital.
At the same time, we have lost one of the most beautiful recreational areas of Arrecife, our marina. The Socialist Party says that the avenue has been won for pedestrians, but I wonder, what pedestrians? It is a problem to see how the people of Arrecife and visitors go to other areas of Lanzarote and that little walk along the avenue on Saturday afternoons or Sundays can no longer be done.
I am also concerned that the jewel in our crown, the symbol of Arrecife's seafaring tradition, will be lost. Can you imagine El Charco without the boats anchored? Well, that is the reality of the new ordinance of Uses of the Coast that will make us stop seeing the barges in El Charco that, together with the Puente de Las Bolas, are the symbol of the city of Arrecife.
But without a doubt, what really worries me the most are the people in need, the vulnerable people; the families without resources who beg for help from the institution and only find the door of the councilor, the door of the City Council, closed. Or the elderly, the great forgotten, with a Day Center that they have not been able to use for a year because it suffered a fire; and also those Senior associations that have been waiting since 2014 for their subsidies to be called.
And what does CC, the Socialist Party's government partner, do in the meantime? Well, support Eva's post-truth, timidly, raising her voice a little, from time to time, just enough, without breaking the glass of post-truth, putting herself in profile, crossing off days on the calendar, waiting for 2019 to arrive soon and take away the yoke they carry on their shoulders.
I also do not forget the other parties that accompany us in the opposition: those of the new policy, those who came to support and solve the problems of the citizens; those who do support Mrs. Eva's post-truth with capital letters. Has anyone hit the table to reverse this situation? I'll answer that NO. Some hide behind ideological differences with the Popular Party (Somos and Ganemos), as if the good of the citizen was not above everything else, and others (Ciudadanos) that I really do not know what their excuse is. All of them continue to allow Arrecife and its residents to continue suffering the terrible management that is being carried out from our City Council.
So by inaction, everyone is supporting that non-objective truth that Eva de Anta, the mayoress of the PSOE, believes she is living in Arrecife.
