It does not seem logical that in the year 2021 education is for some a weapon with which to seek confrontation and division. The values that prevail above any educational model must be recognized, and it is intolerable to deprive any student of their access. The parental pin that the extreme right wants to implement, with the agreement of other formations, is an attack on the full development of the minor. Under the umbrella of a supposed greater freedom, it is intended that parents decide, in their entirety, the contents to which their children have access. The truth is that this proposal is counterproductive and may endanger the progress of future generations.
Education is perhaps the most important pillar of our society. It is logical and healthy that educational models are constantly supervised to try to reinforce them, always seeking the full development of each student. But if there is one thing we have learned throughout the history of mankind, it is that respect, tolerance and equality are universal values that, regardless of political ideology, must be present in all areas of society.
Can you imagine a student being deprived of the possibility of accessing content on equality? Or that a minor in the development phase cannot attend a talk where respect for all people is promoted? In our public education, parents have the freedom to choose certain content for their children when choosing subjects. But whatever the choice, the subject is based on the universal values that have made us grow and move forward as a country.
Education is synonymous with freedom and making it as effective as possible requires a consensus of all forces so that our system is better and adapts to the circumstances of each moment, and always respecting the rights of all people. Parental pin? I think citizens do not deserve that institutions and their leaders waste more time in empty debates.
