A failure in the Montaña Roja treatment plant caused a sewage spill this Monday on La Mulata beach, located in Playa Blanca, as confirmed by the Yaiza City Council to La Voz.

A reader contacted this newspaper to report this spill that took place around 2:30 p.m. this Monday and that, according to him, "lasted more than 40 minutes."

"At that moment there were several people on the beach and others were in the water swimming or snorkeling and, without prior notice, a torrent of foul-smelling water reached the beach, quickly forming a large stain in the sea that has directly affected the bathers and has forced everyone to leave the beach," says the reader.

In this sense, he denounces that the City Council has not warned in advance so that bathers could leave the area despite it being an urgent intervention.
