The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium has announced the temporary closure of La Garita beach, in the town of Arrieta, in Haría, due to the presence of blue dragons (Glaucus atlanticus).

The blue dragon, also known as Atlantic slugs, is a poisonous species that lives in tropical and temperate waters of the planet. This finding occurs two weeks after the sighting of several specimens of this species on Famara beach, forcing its temporary closure.

According to the informative website of the Government of the Canary Islands, the blue dragon is a poisonous species that produces irritations on contact, similar to those caused by a jellyfish.
