How cheap it is to spread a photograph of a naked woman manipulated with artificial intelligence and share it with thousands of followers on social networks. In the era of short-term cancellation, what the rapper JC Reyes did with the photograph of Rosalía, one of the most international Spanish stars of the moment, only cost him the cancellation of a festival at that time, less than two years ago, while he gained hours of podcasts and interviews on YouTube boasting about his despicable attitude, which he continues to defend in the most recent interviews.
JC Reyes said that he should never have apologized, pressured by social networks, for uploading to his Instagram stories a photograph of Rosalía with her chest uncovered, which had been manipulated with artificial intelligence, and that he should have apologized to his then partner Rauw Alejandro. Because of the brotherhood between men and because women are only the possession of our male partners. Lest we suddenly be in the 21st century and women have rights to dignity and self-image and are not worth it depending on who our partner is, if we have one.
Perhaps this story would remain one more exponent of machismo and the lack of sexual education in society. But, I wonder what makes us think that if we normalize that the famous person on duty freely disseminates this type of images, their young followers do not think about doing the same with their classmates or work colleagues. We could say that the social reaction, Rosalía's own response, who described it as "a type of violence" and reminded the rapper on duty that "a woman's body is not public property", was enough, but we have selective amnesia.
All this ranting comes for a reason and that is that this type of macho behavior cannot be fueled with public money, nor tolerated in any way after making a person feel sexually violated. This is even less funny when public institutions pay for this character's concert. Far from being a sample of the urban scene, the hiring of JC Reyes in an event financed by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the City Council of Arrecife and the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism raises questions about what the filter is for paying for machismo and mediocrity with public money.
