The Yaiza City Council has encouraged the students of IES Yaiza to express their proposals for improvement for the municipality in a mural, as part of the Participatory Budget program.
The mayor Óscar Noda has highlighted "the creation and high degree of involvement of our youth in all Citizen Participation initiatives, as well as the support from the management team and teachers of the IES".
Specifically, the mural has been painted as a conclusion to the drafting of proposals that the students have been preparing in the educational center in recent weeks.
For her part, the councilor responsible for the Area, Águeda Cedrés, pointed out that "the students worked on the mural hand in hand with the artist Iván T, expressing in it concerns related to public transport, accessibility, lighting and new spaces for leisure and recreation".
It should be noted that this is not the first time that the City Council has involved the youngest residents with practical actions, since for more than two years they have been participating in various workshops and other initiatives that result in government action. "Hence we have several projects under construction and rehabilitation of sports facilities," adds Noda.
Finally, Councilor Águeda Cedrés recalled that "educational centers are essential spaces in the planning of ideas for social transformation and well-being to be taken into account" and encourages associations, groups and neighbors to attend a new day of participatory budgets this week to clarify concerns about this program. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 25, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Benito Pérez Armas House of Culture.
