The Yaiza City Council has granted urban planning licenses to put out to public tender the execution of four projects for play and leisure areas in the municipality. The body presided over by Óscar Noda has approved in a Governing Board that the execution of a court in the Faro de Pechiguera, another in Femés, a skatepark located between the El Aulagar court and the dog park and improvements in the La Degollada picnic area, where a playground will be added, will be put out to public tender.

Noda announced that the bidding base for the four projects reaches 1.3 million euros, they are, the Faro Pechiguera court, in Playa Blanca, another court in the town of Femés, the construction of a skatepark in Playa Blanca, located between the El Aulagar court and the dog park, and improvements in the La Degollada picnic area, including the implementation of a playground.

The mayor of Yaiza points out that, "once we have given the mandatory urban planning license to these projects, we now proceed to tender their execution. Yaiza has its accounts healthy, the budget approved and we are able to undertake the projects imminently."

The Femés project (230,000 euros) consists of the creation of a space - sports court between Mararía Street and Barranco de El Puente and the creation of a pedestrian and bicycle path that connects the bus stop at the entrance to Femés with Avenida del Rubicón and the current Barranco de El Puente street to the new sports space object of this initiative that also foresees the adaptation of the existing playground to the south of Mararía Street.

As for the court in the Faro (295,000 euros), its objective is the construction of a sports court, measuring 47 by 24 meters, which allows a transversal mini-basketball court with official baskets and a half mini-basketball court. The City Council has also decided to integrate the existing playground with the action so that all spaces are interconnected.

In addition, the skatepark project (294,000 euros) aims for Playa Blanca to have "a unique skatepark in Lanzarote", as the mayor announced in his management balance report. With a budget, the initiative aims to provide the urban environment with a new sports area, focused on the practice of skateboarding and skating, which updates and expands the existing skatepark in the Parque del Mediterráneo.

"The aim of this intervention is to provide a solution to the strong existing demand for this type of activity, creating a skate park with modules made with concrete in situ, mainly seeking durability and quality, avoiding the deterioration suffered by the existing elements made with metal and wood elements", the council has reported in a statement.

Yaiza also has a new intervention planned in the La Degollada picnic area (543,000 euros), where the Institution has already invested in new barbecues, accessibility and shade areas with a high degree of satisfaction from users of the municipality and other points of Lanzarote who enjoy "splendid days" in Yaiza.

"Now we have a project to place the perimeter fence of stone wall, implement a playground, Canarian ball court and install bathrooms, since the current ones are provisional. In any case, we appeal to users to take care of all the facilities", adds the southern leader.
