The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, confirms that the southern City Council transferred this January 5th to the Canary Islands Coastal Demarcation and the Directorate General of Coasts and Management of the Canary Maritime Space, dependent on the governments of Spain and the Canary Islands, respectively, the first phase of the municipal project for the modernization of the Playa Blanca Maritime Avenue.

Specifically, it requested from both bodies the issuance of favorable reports, with the aim of tendering and executing the works budgeted at 2.2 million euros

The first phase of the project includes the route between the Embajador hotel, near the Fund Grube store, and the Paseo de la Sal, precisely at the point separating the Playa Dorada and Barceló hotels, although the City Council has planned new phases that extend the intervention with a unified design to the vicinity of the renovated Playa Blanca port. The total investment exceeds five million euros.

Regarding this first phase, Óscar Noda details that "the objective is to renew all pedestrian pavement and public lighting, improve stone walls, railings, and public utility networks, build a performance plaza to continue promoting culture and leisure activities, in the area where the biosafety machines are currently located, and create two viewpoints with shaded areas, among other actions."

The Yaiza Public Works councilor, Ángel Lago, explains that "the project also includes the replacement of the sanitation network, so we are also sending all the information to the Insular Water Council of Lanzarote and the Water Consortium of Lanzarote, public entities to which we also request their approval." One of the novelties of the project is the installation of high-resistance concrete pavement with photocatalytic treatment, which not only reduces the environmental impact but also facilitates cleaning, pollutant removal, and odor reduction in urban environments.

The comprehensive renovation of Playa Blanca's Maritime Avenue will offer a notable improvement in the quality of life for residents and the experience for visitors, boost the local economy, facilitate cultural and recreational events, and transform the promenade into a more inclusive and sustainable space, in line with the quality of Lanzarote's premier tourist destination.

It should be recalled that the mayor of Yaiza met last November with the Director General of Coasts and Management of the Canary Maritime Space, Antonio Manuel Acosta, where Óscar Noda already outlined the scope of the project and the steps to be taken to bring its execution to fruition, understanding, as the mayor has always maintained, that inter-administrative collaboration and cordial and respectful relations between institutions are essential and necessary
