The Government of the Canary Islands is starting two important works in Lanzarote this Tuesday, the conditioning of the Costa Teguise promenade and the adaptation of green areas in Playa Blanca. Specifically, the first project to improve the promenade will be carried out in the Las Cucharas-Hotel Salinas section, while in the south of the island the Mediterranean Park will be adapted. The works have an investment from the Government of the Canary Islands of 1,123,260 euros.
The director of Tourist Infrastructure of the Government of the Canary Islands, Miguel Cabrera, and the director of Planning and Tourist Promotion of the Canary Executive, Rita Hernández, have visited the actions on the island and have stressed "the need to continue working to be more competitive compared to other destinations".
In this sense, they have highlighted that in the case of the Costa Teguise promenade a "rehabilitation, reform and modernization" process is required since it is a "mature" area. With this action, the aim is to ensure competitiveness and sustainability, according to the Canarian Government. In addition, works will be carried out on the repaving and adaptation of the promenade.
The director of Tourist Infrastructure has specified that "the execution period of the work is 4 months and that the award amount is 423,190 euros, which had been commissioned to Gesplan and is within the Plan to Extend the Strategy of Public Tourist Spaces".
Mediterranean Park
Another of the works that the directors of the Vice-Ministry of Tourism have visited during their stay in Lanzarote has been the conditioning of the Mediterranean Park, in the tourist center of Playa Blanca, for the development of leisure and sports activities. It is a plot of 18,962.56 square meters and on its surface there are garden areas, walkways, jogging area, bike lane, sports courts, bleachers, playground, platforms and wooden walkways.
In the action of the Mediterranean Park, the installation of children's games and sports elements, urban furniture, installation of benches, litter bins, bicycle parking and bleachers, as well as the installation of prefabricated concrete steps on slopes in the sports courts has been taken into account.
Rita Hernández has indicated that this work is financed through the Plan to Extend the Strategy to Improve Public Tourist Space and has an amount of 710,076 euros. The project has also been commissioned to Gesplan.
