The PSOE spokesperson in the Haría City Council has urged the Council to take charge of the maintenance of the Tourist Centers "that belong to them" while the strike lasts, that is, Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes. In the initiative that Alfredo Villalba registered this Wednesday in the City Council, it is also requested that an audit of the state of the Tourist Centers be carried out and that technicians from the César Manrique Foundation carry it out.
"We are going to register today an initiative to urge the City Council to worry at least about the centers that belong to them, especially Jameos, where there are many plants and there is the issue of the pool and there is a risk that a work of art, accompanied by vegetation, will be affected in its image," Villalba announced on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, where he criticized that, despite the fact that "two of the three Tourist Centers in Haría are owned by the City Council, the mayor has done absolutely nothing to worry about them or their workers, many of whom are residents of the municipality."
"It seems to us an authentic dereliction of duties on the part of the mayor who, in addition, did not attend a meeting that the Works Council convened yesterday with the EPEL. He has not been seen or known by the Centers, neither he nor his government partner," the socialist pointed out in relation to José Pérez Dorta as well.
Villalba insisted on the "little concern" of the mayor, Marci Acuña, for the conflict when, in addition, "many businesses in the north, which live off tour operators" are also being affected according to the PSOE councilor. "The northern route is abandoned due to the closure of the Centers, so the northern economy is also suffering and we have not seen the mayor at any time bang his fist on the table and say this must be resolved yes or yes," he added.
"The only thing he is interested in is continuing to thrive in politics and if you take him out of that he doesn't know how to do anything else. He already has enough to solve the internal problems within the government group, because we have learned from the press that a councilor has abandoned him. The town is very small, everything is known, and the reasons are not strictly personal, there are more reasons, but they are problems that they have to solve and give the necessary stability to this City Council but, above all, attend to the residents and also to the municipal heritage," said the PSOE councilor in Haría.
Search for other interlocutors on the part of the CACT
On the other hand, Alfredo Villalba criticized "the behavior of CC in the Cabildo through its councilor and a president, trying to put out a fire by throwing gasoline on it." In fires, when some firefighters don't work, you have to remove them and put someone who is capable of putting it out, but what is happening on this island is unheard of, something that had not happened before, and where much more is being played than a fight in quotation marks between company and workers. The fight between Pedro San Ginés and the workers is not new, this contest has been going on for many years, and far from being resolved, what has been done is to deepen the wound much more," he said.
Thus, the PSOE councilor in Haría believes that it would be "logical and natural" that on the part of the CACT there would be other interlocutors to put an end to the conflict, but he believes that this "is not going to happen" because "CC has endorsed even more if possible the current councilor, who is doing a terrible job."
