Unidos por Lanzarote y La Graciosa (UPLG) denounces the situation of “negligence and abandonment” that many points of the municipality of Teguise are going through, such as Los Cocoteros and Guatiza.

“The mayor, almost always in the distance, from a distance and busy with press releases of regional interest, has forgotten most of the issues of the municipality that he has misgoverned for almost two decades”, assures the spokesman of UPLG, Laureano Álvarez.

“This is the case of the neighbors of Guatiza and Los Cocoteros where, for example, well into the 21st century and after eleven years of misgovernment by Oswaldo Betancort, they still cannot enjoy fiber or mobile coverage”, criticized the spokesman.

“This missing mayor has the pond completely abandoned to its fate", says Álvarez, who details that the Guatiza soccer field has "even a population of gorse that may lead to the filming of a 'western' of third category, with the goals without nets that leave a landscape that recalls the soccer fields of fifty years ago".

Laureano Álvarez also points out the situation in which the Taiga Socio-Cultural Center is located: "the state of abandonment in which it is located gives rise to more than one press release full of the painful situation in which Oswaldo Betancort has submerged the municipality of Teguise".

“The only positive note of the apathy that emanates from the mayor's office for years is that people have been catching his modus operandi that many residents of Teguise and La Graciosa have been able to verify over time”, said Álvarez.

“If a problem arises, I walk through the media, meanwhile pulling the local silence, embracing any regional news and moving letters under the table at the party level, prior to the elbows to be placed in the elections where, hopefully, do not use Teguise as a launching pad again”, criticized the ULPG spokesman.

“Despite the fact that we are cured of fright with the inaction and neglect of the mayor”, says Álvarez, who adds that from the party “they cannot stop denouncing the abuses that the neighbors have suffered for years.”
