The City Council of Tinajo has commissioned the company Gestión y Planeamiento Territorial y Medioambiental (GESPLAN) to draft the Revision of the General Plan of the municipality, as well as the adaptation to the General and Tourism Planning Guidelines. The councilors of the City Council decided unanimously during the extraordinary session of the plenary held yesterday morning. The awarding of said management will be effective through an agreement with the public company GESPLAN.

The mayor of the municipality, Jesús Machín, and the rest of the councilors of the City Council agreed to highlight the advantages derived from entrusting the project to the public company. "They are used to working with general plans and it will be easier for them to adapt it to the Guidelines," he said. But, fundamentally, in this way the Government of the Canary Islands subsidizes 64,000 euros, while the City Council only contributes 10,000 euros. In this sense, contracting this management with GESPLAN is always more profitable than hiring a team of writers or architects from the private company.

Jesús Machín assured that GESPLAN technicians are already working on said drafting and that next week he will hold a meeting with them to adapt the plan to the Government's Guidelines.

Agricultural market

After the celebration of the plenary session, Jesús Machín also announced that yesterday afternoon he was going to hold a meeting with the general director of Industry to discuss the situation of the agricultural market project of the municipality. The mayor confirmed that the City Council of Tinajo has obtained the support of Industry "to finish the agricultural market and start it up" and assured that it will be ready by the end of the year. He affirmed that this market will be interesting for Tinajo, but also for Lanzarote.
