The Tías City Council Plenary has unanimously approved this Tuesday to name Federico Arrocha Hernández as the favorite son of the municipality posthumously.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, shared with all the councilors of the corporation his "joy" for this plenary decision and announced that the official act of recognition to Ico Arrocha, a native of La Tiñosa and "one of the best voices of Canarian folklore", will be prepared soon.
From the City Council they consider that Arrocha deserved this recognition “for his contribution to the cultural development of the municipality as a folk musician and also for his personal and human character.”

Federico Arrocha Hernández was born in April 1953 and died in May 2016. "He stood out for his extraordinary voice and for a great interpretive quality of the musical tradition of Lanzarote, which he showed in musical encounters, records and participation in folk festivals", they emphasize from the City Council.
In addition to making various collaborations, he was part of folk groups such as Ajei, Los Campesinos and Guadarfía.
