The Department of Roads and Works of the City Council of Tías is carrying out in these weeks different works to eliminate architectural barriers in the pedestrian crossings of the interior streets of Puerto del Carmen. According to the Consistory, these actions are added to other works carried out in recent times for the replacement and repair of different sidewalks in this town, which in many of its areas is up to 40 and 50 years old.
Specifically, the works are focused these days on the streets Timón, Ancla and Arpón, where in addition to tourist complexes there are properties for residents. From the City Council, which has allocated several crews to the works, the collaboration of pedestrians and drivers is requested when they travel through these streets, whose works are fenced to prevent possible falls in pedestrians.

The City Council of Tías affirms that it has different works underway to improve accessibility in Puerto del Carmen and, in this sense, recalls that last summer the works to provide accessibility to the Grande beach of Puerto del Carmen were completed, with an investment close to 250,000 euros contributed by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, through the Department of Public Works.
Parallel to these actions, the Department of Roads and Works of Tías has hired different construction companies for the execution of accessibility improvements in the streets of Puerto del Carmen and the urban center of Tías. Works that have been reinforced with the work of municipal workers in those areas where repairs to the pavement of existing sidewalks were necessary.
