The Concerted Plan of Basic Social Services includes actions such as home help service, processing of the Canary Islands citizenship income, activities for the elderly and complementary benefits, among others
The total amount has been financed with 1,315,938.24 euros by the Tías City Council, 239,592.72 euros by the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands and 34,889.71 euros by the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and Agenda 2030 of the Government of Spain.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, recalls that the Concerted Plan of Basic Social Services is a program that aims to guarantee access to basic social services at the municipal level, "promoting equality and social welfare." Its purpose is the prevention, care and coverage of the basic individual and social needs of people in their environment, with the aim of improving their well-being.
The Councilor for Social Welfare, Nicolás Saavedra, specifies that the figures of interventions carried out each year confirm the need for this plan. In 2024, he adds, 239 people were attended (132 women and 107 men) to facilitate the provision of support to the cohabitation unit and home help service. In addition, there was intervention with 53 users (28 women and 25 men) for the provision of alternative accommodation.
Among the interventions carried out last year, the 3,194 (1,772 women and 1,422 men) records of information and advice provision stand out; and the 1,838 (1,018 women and 820 men) cases of provision of specific prevention and insertion actions. To this are added the 307 complementary benefits and the attention to 42 users for the Canary Islands citizenship income, among which 27 are still active.
Considering that social services are an essential part of the Welfare State, these services are aimed at guaranteeing the right of all people and groups to social protection, as established by current legislation.
