The passing of Miguel de la Hoz has caused a deep shock in Lanzarote, where he was considered one of the benchmarks of island football and a very beloved figure for his dedication to sport and his commitment to this land.
Coalición Canaria in Arrecife, through its local secretary, Echedey Eugenio, has wanted to express its deepest sorrow for the loss. “Today we say goodbye to a person who left a mark on and off the playing field,” Eugenio pointed out, who stressed that Miguel de la Hoz was “a benchmark of Lanzarote football, part of a generation that made this island dream, and an example of personal overcoming who knew how to overcome very difficult moments, always looking forward with humility and courage.”
From Coalición Canaria Arrecife, the close link of Miguel de la Hoz with sport is highlighted, especially with football, where his name is linked to some of the most significant chapters in the island's history. His sporting career and his approachable character earned him the respect of teammates, rivals, fans, and the entire Lanzarote sports family.
The nationalist organization also recalls its involvement in public life and its closeness to the Coalición Canaria project, collaborating and accompanying in different stages those who have worked to improve the island and its capital. “People like Miguel represent the values we want for this land: effort, commitment, teamwork and love for Lanzarote. We are going to miss him.”
