The works on Manolo Millares street have already begun. The project promoted by the Arrecife City Council foresees a facelift for one of the main arteries of the capital's center.
Among the most notable modifications, one of the three lanes currently enabled will change direction in most of the section. Thus, there would be two lanes towards the exit to the airport and another in the opposite direction. This third lane will only maintain the current direction between the streets of Idelfonso Valls de la Torre and Almirante Boado street. In this way, vehicles will be forced to exit through the city via Avenida Fred Olsen.

Another important change is that the parking spaces on this street will disappear and only a space reserved for taxis and urban waste containers will remain. In the spaces where the parking lots were until now, new sidewalks and more than two dozen trees will be distributed. In addition, for the widest section of sidewalk, located next to the intersection with Guenia street, two benches will be added in the shade of the trees.
In addition to widening the sidewalks, telephone and electricity cables will be buried. In the announcement of the project in October 2022, the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, stated that these works would also solve the rainwater problems in the area. The government team has been working since then on the construction of an urban rainwater drainage network to prevent flooding in this street.
The works, which have a budget of more than 900,000 euros, have a period of 8 months to be carried out. These will be joined by the remodeling of Avenida Fred Olsen, which aims to pedestrianize the maritime section of the capital next to Reducto beach.
