The Directorate General of Emergencies, based on the prediction of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), has declared a warning for rain and coastal flooding and a pre-warning for storms in Lanzarote and La Graciosa starting this Friday due to the impact of Storm Emilia.
Specifically, the **rain alert will begin at 8:00 PM**, while the alert for **coastal flooding will start at 6:00 PM**. For its part, the **storm pre-alert will begin at 6:00 PM**. This situation will affect the entire archipelago
From the Canary Islands Government, they report that storm Emilia will leave unevenly distributed rainfall throughout the archipelago. Regarding Lanzarote and La Graciosa, accumulations could be locally significant. Weak, moderate, and heavy rainfall is probable, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail
Likewise, rainfall will be persistent in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and in the northern half of La Palma, La Gomera, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria. The accumulated amount of water will likely **reach and exceed 40 millimeters in 12 hours in Lanzarote** and FuerteventuraRegarding the **storms**, they are likely to be **intense** with lightning, flashes, and thunder, which may bring locally heavy precipitation and/or very strong wind gusts (exceeding 70 km/h) and/or hail. Given the nature of these phenomena, there is a possibility that, in isolated cases, storms of greater intensity may occur
In the case of coastal flooding, rough seas are expected for Friday night and the weekend, which will generate in some areas of the islands risk of coastal flooding due to waves breaking onto bathing areas, promenades, and roads near the coastline, especially 2-3 hours before and after high tide.
High tides on Saturday the 13th: 07:55 – 08:40 h and 20:40 – 21:20 hours.
High tides on Sunday the 14th: 09:00 – 09:40 and 21:40 – 22:15 hours.
