The mayor of the Tías City Council, José Juan Cruz, the first deputy mayor, Mame Fernández, the second deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, and the Councilor for Urban Planning, Ulpiano Calero, visited this Thursday the Avenida de las Playas, in the Matagorda area, where they verified the completion of the works after the channeling, pedestrianization, accessibility and bike lane of the area had been improved.
The officials of the municipal council toured the promenade and ratified the "considerable improvement" of the pavement and the restored space. This work, called 'Work to repair the Avenida de las Playas section Marte and the Carretera de las Playas Phase II', has been financed by the General Directorate of Tourism Infrastructure of the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, with a budget of 1,646,437, 35 euros, including IGIC.
With this action, a pedestrian path has been created that is “safer, more comfortable and accessible for all users”. According to the project, “this is a regeneration of the existing pavement, expanding the pedestrian platform without losing the idiosyncrasy of this section of the avenue”.

In the coming days, the public furniture of the promenade and the showers in the bathing area will be finished. The public lighting of the avenue from the Hotel Beatriz area to the roundabout of the Hotel Jameos Playa will also be awarded soon, the project of which is budgeted at 397,000 euros plus IGIC.
