The tragedy of the Los Silos gallery also brings mourning to Lanzarote

The rescue operation of the 29 people who were on an excursion on Saturday afternoon to the Piedra de Los Cochinos water gallery, in the Tenerife municipality of Erjos, ended with the rescue, at 2:25 p.m., of the lifeless body of one of the six young people who died. The operation has ended with 23 hikers rescued and 6 dead.

The Judicial Police Team of the Civil Guard of Tenerife has already identified the six people who died while on an excursion in the Piedra de Los Cochinos water gallery, in Los Silos, Tenerife.

These are five men - four Spaniards and one Italian - and a woman of Spanish nationality between the ages of 22 and 36. In addition to Ginés Ramírez from Lanzarote, 25 years old, his girlfriend, Estafanía P.F., 22 years old, Juan Luis M. T, 36 years old, also lost their lives; Eduardo D.D., 29 years old; Javier D. S. 32 years old and Maurizio P. 29 years old and of Italian nationality.

In addition, he indicated that the first 16 hikers who were rescued on Saturday - 10 men and 6 women, mostly of Spanish nationality except for four of them from Germany, Serbia, Austria and Finland, did not require transfer to any health center, but a woman of French nationality did, who was transferred to the Los Silos health center.

Another 6 people - 4 women and 2 men - of Spanish nationality, who were rescued in the early morning, were evacuated to hospitals.

Personnel from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), the Emergency Intervention Group (GIE), the Tenerife Fire Department and the Civil Guard have participated in this rescue operation.

THREE DAYS OF MOURNING

The City Councils of Buenavista del Norte and Los Silos will hold two extraordinary plenary sessions to declare three official days of mourning for the six deceased in the Piedra de Los Cochinos gallery, in Los Silos

According to the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) 1-1-2, among the people who have lost their lives in the gallery is a girl and a young Italian.
