The Tías City Council is finalizing the works of the Municipal Theater with the installation of 459 seats, increasing the current capacity by more than 100. The seats are already in place as well as the completion of the expansion works of the useful surface of this infrastructure, which will see both its interior and the reception area increased. In addition, it has been equipped with new lighting, electricity and security installations, as well as new floors, hall, services and other improvements.
The expansion and remodeling works of the theater are included in the State Local Investment Fund, allocating one million euros for this purpose, of which a part is contributed by the State and more than half by the local Corporation itself.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, who has visited the works in the company of municipal technicians, has pointed out that they are "already completed, pending minor adjustments, and that once all the bureaucratic requirements involved in this type of issues are met, the inauguration and commissioning will take place".
The Municipal Theater of Tías, the first one built in Lanzarote, was already suffering the effects of being in operation for almost 30 years, presenting, in addition, deficiencies in terms of equipment and control measures that this type of facilities entail.
