The Tías City Council made the decision to dismiss most of the workers of the company El Poril S.A, whose activities focused on monitoring the parking meters of the Avenida Marítima in Puerto del Carmen. The Tías City Council has confirmed that only two jobs will be retained, the purpose of which is yet to be determined.
The reasons for this total restructuring of the company's staff are due, according to the municipality's mayor's office, to the works that are being carried out in one of the sections of the Avenida Marítima (specifically the Fariones-San Antonio direction). As these works exist, the monitoring of parking meters is not necessary, so the City Council has made the decision to cut almost the entire staff of El Poril S.A.
"The works will begin in September and we do not know how many months they will last. For the moment, the jobs of the guards are superfluous, since there will be no parking meters in the section that is being built", declared the mayor José Juan Cruz, who confirmed that the dismissal files are already being processed, although he did not know the exact number of affected workers.
