After reading the order recently issued by the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the Supreme Court on the obligation of the Yaiza City Council to report on the licenses granted during 2006, the Territorial Commission has agreed to urge this Corporation to definitively comply with this resolution and thus prevent the Cabildo "from being forced to resort to criminal proceedings", said Francisco Cabrera, a popular councilor.
The agreement has been adopted by all political groups and aims to ensure that the southern municipality adheres to the law, since it has fifteen days to inform the First Institution of the granting of a license, and yet, to date, it has only reported on those granted until the end of 2005.
In addition, with the intention of streamlining the territorial classification process for citizens, the Commission has approved taking to the plenary the transfer of powers in this area to local administrations. In this regard, the Popular Party will present two motions to have them reassumed by the Cabildo when it has structures capable of carrying out territorial classification efficiently and quickly.
For this reason, the Popular Party has requested the preparation of a report that evaluates the material and personnel needs, so that the First Institution can develop these powers. The idea is to centralize in the same space all areas related to this matter, so that citizens have more facilities when carrying out this procedure.
