The PSOE councilors in Teguise have positively assessed that the mayor yielded to their request last Friday, and now they will be able to review many of the construction licenses on which, according to them, there were suspicions of favoritism and cronyism. Pedro Martín, socialist councilor in Teguise, assured that "the review work will begin this week after the Partial Plan of Costa Teguise is discussed in the plenary session."
The PSOE councilors have an arduous task ahead of them. In these eleven years, hundreds of urban planning licenses have been archived that "will be reviewed after we see the licenses that we initially suspected and were the reason for this discussion." Pedro Martín stated that they will go straight to the point, although a detailed study of all the licenses will be carried out later, but he anticipates that they suspect "especially licenses granted to construction companies and not to ordinary people who were building their homes."
For his part, the mayor of Teguise, Juan Pedro Hernández, explained that "the City Council will have to organize the review of these licenses to avoid recesses in the administrative work". According to the Councilor for Urban Planning himself, Domingo Cejas, who initially opposed to attending to this request from the socialists, the documentation will be delivered to them in stages, so as not to delay the work of the Administration. To do this, the licenses will be provided to them by years, starting with those of 1995.
