Teguise will allocate eight million euros to create and improve infrastructure in its municipality. To this end, the Corporation has initially approved, in the plenary session held this Friday, obtaining a loan for this amount. The money will be allocated to the Investment Plan that the Government group plans to carry out next year. "This loan includes several works and actions, among which the construction of a municipal swimming pool in La Villa stands out, for a value of 1.8 million euros, a paving plan of 1.5 million euros or the creation of a sports center in Costa Teguise of 750,000 euros, among other investments," commented Luciano Pérez, Councilor for Finance of the municipality.
This loan request has been approved with the votes against the opposition. Noelia Umpiérrez, councilor for the Socialist Party has explained that they have voted against this proposal because they understand that what the Government group is doing is a pre-election campaign. "We believe that if these investments are really needs that the municipality of Teguise had, they have had a long time to carry them out and not just now, that we are one year away from the elections and they intend to convince citizens with many investments."
In order to request this loan, the Corporation has also had to approve a three-year Economic-Financial Recovery Plan. "It is a three-year plan in which a series of economic measures will be applied, such as controlling current spending, managing taxes as best as possible, trying to reduce the cost of services, controlling purchasing management, and other initiatives that will ensure that the City Council's level of indebtedness does not exceed that established by law," commented Luciano Pérez.
Another issue that has been debated and left on the table has been the increase in the fee for the vehicle removal service to the municipal depot. "This has been left on the table because they wanted the residents of Costa Teguise, being in the vicinity of the depot, to pay less for this service. "From the PSOE we think that this is another case of discrimination, so we believe that it violates the law," commented the socialist councilor, Noelia Umpierrez. The proposal will be debated in the next plenary session, as it is awaiting a legal report to evaluate it.
The plenary session has also taken note of the dismissal of the socialist councilor, Pedro Martín, although his successor has not yet been appointed. "We are waiting for the Electoral Board to approve the candidate, who will presumably be Francisco Delgado," added Umpiérrez.
