The strong storm and waves have forced the temporary closure of the port of Playa Blanca. The shipping companies received a notice at 3:00 p.m., in which the closure of the dock was communicated for security reasons.
The strong gusts of wind and waves have prevented the ferries from sailing, and therefore, it has been decided to suspend traffic between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Naviera Armas has operated normally until 1:00 p.m. and the next ship could not leave, upon receiving the communication that the dock was closed.
Likewise, the last ship of the Fred Olsen company left at noon and, from then on, the service had to be suspended. In this way, the boats have not been able to operate from 4:00 p.m., when there were still several trips pending to connect both islands.
From this company, they have indicated to La Voz that the ships are in port and are not scheduled to leave until Tuesday, if the weather improves and allows it.
