The island secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, Senator Domingo Fuentes and Deputy Sebastián Franquis, have visited the Greenpeace activists on board the Arctic Sunrise.

During the visit they held a working interview with Julio Barea and Marina Bevacqua, heads of Greenpeace, who conveyed first-hand all the data referring to the boarding they suffered yesterday by ships of the Spanish Navy.

The socialists informed Barea and Bevacqua of the parliamentary initiatives that the PSOE will carry out in the coming days to demand political responsibilities for the disproportionate action of the Navy.

"They will have to account in Parliament and explain who gave the orders and what they were" said Sebastián Franquies, who declared that "it is outrageous to see the violence of the images, there is no record of such a brutal intervention by any state".

Domingo Fuentes stressed that "we will demand that they explain why the Navy is «protecting» a foreign-flagged ship by endangering the lives of Spanish and European citizens through an unjustifiable use of force".

The island secretary of the PSOE, who was accompanied by the heads of Organization and Institutional Policy, José Juan Cruz and Marcos Hernández, assured that "the PSOE will not stop demanding explanations and demanding political responsibilities, as the seriousness of the events requires that we go all the way".

Corujo concluded by stressing that "now it is time to wish the injured people a speedy recovery and show our gratitude to Greenpeace for their work".
