The PSOE of Teguise will propose in the next plenary session to promote a "contest of ideas" to design a project that allows citizens to enjoy a plot of land in Tahiche that the government of Oswaldo Betancort expropriated for 3,073,817 euros plus 484,315 euros in interest".

"As the main opposition party, we were the ones who informed the public about the so-called 'Tahíche case', an expropriation hidden for years by the Canary Coalition government in Teguise, despite the millionaire cost it had and the judicial sentences that decreed it in 2018 and 2021", says the spokesperson

“Regardless of the opacity and way of managing this matter by the government of Oswaldo Betancort, the truth is that land has been acquired for a very large amount, paid by the citizens of Teguise through their taxes, and we must make it easier for them to use and enjoy this space of almost 100,000 square meters.”

Activate its use "respecting the environment"

The PSOE points out that the land is currently classified in the municipal plan as "SRPN-3, rustic land for natural protection". “It is necessary to make it possible, within the margins allowed by the regulations, to obtain a social return on the acquisition made by the Consistory, which involves promoting its use and enjoyment by citizens together with the recovery and regeneration of its natural values”, Bergaz points out.

In this sense, Marcos Bergaz points out that the PSOE is firmly committed to calling "a contest of ideas that encourages the best professionals to outline proposals that are respectful of the territory and the much-demanded citizen enjoyment".

"It would be a matter of capturing what we have achieved in other spaces of Lanzarote: reconciling respect for natural values and regulations with their social utility", adds Bergaz.

”To achieve this, we are betting on this occasion on the opportunities presented by the contest of ideas formula, selecting the best from among the innovative initiatives that the professionals of the territory can present”, concludes the socialist spokesperson.
