The PSOE of Haría has expressed itself "enormously concerned about the plan of Oswaldo Betancort and a part of the Canarian Coalition to move the cruises from Arrecife to Playa Blanca, since in fact the municipality of Haría would lose countless excursionists who today carry out short tourist packages in the northern area".
In this regard, it recalls that within the excursions that visitors usually take when they dock in Lanzarote there are three main types of products, two short excursions, one to the south and one to the north, and one called the grand tour that covers the entire island. "In the excursions to the north, many take advantage of these short excursions to the north to enjoy the restoration and do shopping in the north of the island," emphasize the socialists of the municipality.
"With the approach of taking cruises to the south of the island, the cruise passenger would rarely leave Timanfaya and the south of the island since the short excursions could not reach Haría and the grand tour would do it with everything exhausted," they warn.
Therefore, they consider that with this proposal "the Canarian Coalition condemns our municipality to not receive a large part of the visitors who arrive per year through the short excursion of the north"; and they request that Betancort "abandon the idea of speculating with cruises." In addition, he reminds him that "the design of the island is something much more complicated than taking a picture of a tie with a headline to get a handful of votes."
