The PSOE has criticized Oswaldo Betancort's "irresponsibility" regarding the generation of wind energy. The spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ariagona González, has responded to the statements made by Betancort in his appearance to announce the situation of the different wind farms of public ownership.
The councilor has referred to "Betancort's attempt to hold Loli Corujo's government responsible" for the loss of income experienced by Eólicas de Lanzarote, as a result of the "breakdown suffered by the windmills of the Los Valles wind farm."
The councilor has explained that "the company awarded the maintenance unilaterally stopped providing its services." "As Oswaldo Betancort knows perfectly well, we had to initiate a procedure to terminate the maintenance contract," González recalled.
"Once the contract was terminated, Eólicas could legally take charge of the repairs and that is what we did, to recover production as soon as possible and to be able to tender the maintenance, because nobody is going to take care of the maintenance of something that does not work.".
González has highlighted that "as soon as the repairs were completed, the maintenance was put out to tender, but the tender was unsuccessful" shortly before the elections. "The question is why we are still without a maintenance contract after more than half a year of government by Oswaldo Betancort and his team.".
In addition, the spokesperson reported that "the procedure was initiated to claim from Cobra for the damages suffered by Eólicas de Lanzarote" due to the stoppage of the Los Valles park. "We left them ready the legal, technical and economic reports to file a claim against the maintenance company and we are going to request that we be informed if the procedure has already been initiated, since Oswaldo Betancort has had more than half a year to do so."
Regarding the maintenance contract for the Teguise wind farm, the socialist spokesperson has pointed out that the contract "expired in July." "It was enough to give an order of continuity of service so that the maintenance continues to be provided while the new contract is tendered and, once again, it must be remembered that Oswaldo has had more than six months to do so."
Finally, González has reported that they also "left ready" for contracting the "specifications of the maintenance" of the Punta Grande wind farm and "if it has not been tendered to this day, the responsibility lies with Oswaldo Betancort." "The president of the Cabildo confuses propaganda with management. He has been in charge of the Cabildo and the Water Consortium for more than half a year and intends to hold the PSOE responsible for his inability."
The dismissal of the manager of the Water Consortium: a manifest irresponsibility
"Oswaldo Betancort committed the irresponsibility of dismissing the manager of the Lanzarote Water Consortium without any kind of explanation without realizing that he was the one in charge, precisely, of carrying out the renewal of the maintenance contracts and of promoting the filing of legal actions against Cobra. Now he is bogged down and intends to hold the Socialist Party responsible for his inability to carry out the Water Consortium," the councilor concluded.
