The general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, Dolores Corujo, has expressed in her name and in that of the political force she leads "her deepest sorrow after the dramatic outcome of the disappearance of the young Romina Núñez" and has conveyed her condolences to the family.

"After the husband's confession, who has admitted to hiding the woman's body on January 1, everything points to a new murder due to gender violence, the third so far in 2019 in Spain," the party said in a statement.

"Romina had married her alleged murderer a few months ago and was hoping to bring her four-year-old son to her new home in Lanzarote. To those who talk about false accusations, to those who minimize the data on gender violence, I only wish that they never suffer abuse from those who only expect to receive love," said Dolores Corujo.

The socialist has recalled "the urgency of demanding protection measures for women, social awareness of sexist behaviors and recognizing the goal of equality as a priority on political agendas." "We have to go out on the street, we have to denounce femicide and the threat posed by the ultra-right-wing narrative; and on Tuesday, at seven in the afternoon in the Plazuela de Arrecife, it is time to do so," defended Corujo, recalling the demonstration called for 7:00 p.m. on January 15.
